Lead Surgical Technologist for Operating Room

Position Overview:

As a Lead Surgical Technologist, you will play a crucial role in the operating room, collaborating with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure successful surgical outcomes. Your expertise will be vital in assisting during surgical procedures and managing pre-operative and post-operative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preparation for Surgical Procedures: Gather and organize necessary instruments and supplies, ensuring all equipment is in optimal working condition. Review case carts for accuracy and troubleshoot any equipment issues.
  2. Anticipation of Surgical Needs: Demonstrate proficiency in scrubbing for at least two surgical specialties, anticipating the surgeon's requirements during operations.
  3. Aseptic Technique: Uphold strict aseptic protocols and universal precautions throughout surgical procedures, managing waste disposal and maintaining a sterile environment.
  4. Surgeon Preference Management: Ensure that all preference cards and pick lists are meticulously maintained and accurate.
  5. Operating Room Maintenance: Assist in the turnover of operating rooms between cases, including restocking supplies and cleaning.
  6. Training and Orientation: Participate in the training and orientation of new surgical technology staff and students as needed.
  7. Administrative Support: Provide business support to the department, including various administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates must possess a high school diploma or GED along with current basic life support certification. Certification as a surgical technologist or two to three years of relevant experience is required. Proficiency in scrubbing for a minimum of two surgical specialties is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program is highly preferred, along with additional related education or experience.
