Position Title: Building Automation Technician II

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing, inspection, and calibration of sensors, meters, gauges, and controllers to ensure precision.
  • Interpret and identify components from control system schematics.
  • Recognize mechanical equipment on technical drawings, including chillers, boilers, pumps, air handling units, fan coil units, and variable air volume systems.
  • Comprehend basic electrical control circuits, specifically 24VAC power and controller input/output configurations.
  • Grasp fundamental control and networking principles.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with control hardware.
  • Implement system graphics in accordance with project specifications.
  • Replace faulty wiring and tubing as necessary.
  • Document calibrations performed, parts utilized, and maintain an inventory of available components.
  • Create schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect modifications made to instruments, circuits, and systems for as-built documentation.
  • Monitor, identify, and troubleshoot potential issues using computer workstations and on-site evaluations.
  • Collaborate with installation or maintenance teams to carry out installations, repairs, or modifications of controlled systems and equipment.
  • Organize equipment run times as requested and generate system reports detailing trends and histories.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent field experience.
  • A minimum of 4 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient knowledge of at least one HVAC control system (preferably Tridium, Distech, Delta, JCI).
  • Understanding of mechanical systems.
  • Engineering competencies should include knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and computer programming.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in control system architecture design, programming, or maintenance is preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills and an understanding of controls networking.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet motor vehicle record requirements to operate a company vehicle.
