Daily Responsibilities of a Payroll Manager at DSG:
  • Revise and streamline systems to manage payroll data and time-off policies.
  • Oversee the complete bi-weekly payroll cycle for all employees, including data entry, wage calculations, deductions, and adjustments.
  • Administer timecards, time entry, and timekeeping software. Ensure timely submission of timecards.
  • Confirm all overtime hours with the relevant management personnel.
  • Conduct internal payroll, benefits, and accounting audits on a semi-annual basis or as needed.
  • Maintain the general ledger concerning payroll transactions.
  • Safeguard payroll records and employee files, providing documentation as requested by HR personnel.
  • Establish new state and local tax jurisdictions as required.
  • Facilitate the onboarding of new employees into the tax on time entry system (ADP) while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Guarantee compliance with all local, state, and federal laws related to finances, tax filings, payroll processing, Year-end Tax Statements (W2 and MISC-1099), EEO, and Worker's Compensation reporting.
  • Ensure the organization adheres to all additional legal and regulatory requirements concerning payroll operations.
  • Manage Outside commission plan payroll processing and support.
  • Handle Inside commission plan enrollment, modifications, reporting, and communication with management staff.
  • Optimize payroll functions within HRIS.
  • Prepare and disseminate the annual payroll calendar.
  • Address employee inquiries regarding payroll issues, deductions, and tax information promptly and professionally.
  • Train and assist payroll staff as necessary, ensuring they comprehend their roles and responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with finance and other internal departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with financial systems and overall business operations.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications of a Successful Payroll Manager:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration with a focus on Accounting, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in payroll processing for an organization preferred.
  • Strong computer skills; experience with payroll software; additional system knowledge is advantageous.
  • Comprehensive understanding of payroll procedures, laws, taxes, and best practices.
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • Ability to maintain privacy and confidentiality with the utmost discretion.
  • Exceptional mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
