Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic II to join our team at Oxford College of Emory University. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities, electrical, and mechanical systems and plumbing.

Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and written technical documents to locate areas of trouble and complete repairs accurately.
  • Repair and adjust doors, windows, closures, panic devices, and locks.
  • Patch holes, install escutcheons, repair ceiling and floor tile as needed to maintain building appearance.
  • Make minor masonry and wood repairs.
  • Install pictures, coat hooks, other wall-hung furnishings, and equipment as requested.
  • Operate and maintain specific equipment, conduct surveys and inventories, perform preventive maintenance activities, respond to customer complaints, and repair equipment.
  • Perform daily chemical tests on water systems and adjust chemical mixtures and feed rates.
  • Conduct surveys and inventories of buildings and equipment.
  • Enter data into computer systems and databases.
  • Maintain records and files; interpret applicable regulations and filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Practice all applicable safety regulations and use personal protective equipment as required.
  • Respond to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identify and record needs or problems and determine the best approach to resolve situations following departmental guidelines.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and two years of experience in building maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and general carpentry.
  • Working knowledge of computer or mobile applications.
  • Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist, climb a ladder, and walk for distances up to one mile.
