Job Summary

Emory University is seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic II - Campus Services to maintain the safe operation and maintenance of building facilities, electrical, and mechanical systems and plumbing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, drawings, schematics, and written technical documents to locate areas of trouble and complete repairs accurately.
  • Repairs and adjusts doors, windows, closures, panic devices, and locks.
  • Patches holes, installs escutcheons, repairs ceiling and floor tile as needed to maintain building appearance.
  • Makes minor masonry and wood repairs.
  • Installs pictures, coat hooks, other wall-hung furnishings, and equipment as requested.
  • Operates and maintains specific equipment, conducts surveys and inventories, performs preventive maintenance activities, responds to customer complaints, and repairs equipment.
  • May perform daily chemical tests on water systems and adjust chemical mixtures and feed rates.
  • Conducts surveys and inventories of buildings and equipment.
  • Enters data into computer systems and databases.
  • Maintains records and files; interprets applicable regulations and filing and auditing policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Practices all applicable safety regulations and uses personal protective equipment as required.
  • Responds to customer requests and complaints in a timely and appropriate manner; identifies and records need or problem and determines best approach to resolve situation following departmental guidelines.
Requirements
  • A high school diploma and two years of experience in building maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and general carpentry.
  • Working knowledge of computer or mobile applications.
  • Positions in this classification may require a valid Georgia driver's license and an insurable driving record.
  • Some positions within this classification may require the ability to lift 50 pounds and to bend, stoop, twist, climb a ladder, and walk for distances up to one mile.
