Job Title:

PRODUCTION SAFETY MANAGER

Job Summary:

The Production Safety Manager will provide critical guidance and support to the Department of Film and Television at Boston University to ensure the safety of faculty, staff, and students working on production-related entities. This role will work closely with the Risk Management Office, production personnel, regulatory agencies, and other city and state departments to reinforce safety standards in all productions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide production safety guidance and training to students, faculty, and staff
  • Collaborate with the Risk Management Office and production personnel to identify and mitigate safety risks
  • Develop and implement safety protocols and procedures for film and television productions
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards
  • Develop and maintain safety materials and resources for internal and external use
  • Lead internal projects and teams to improve safety and compliance
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of related experience
  • 7 years of safety experience, preferably in the entertainment industry
  • Strong knowledge of critical aspects of filmmaking, including camera positioning, framing, visual effects, and stunt parameters
  • Flexibility and problem-solving skills
  • Strong technical writing skills for interacting with legal teams and regulatory agencies
Work Environment:

This position will work primarily on the Charles River Campus in Boston, MA, with occasional travel to other locations.
