Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team at HIKINEX. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing all Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability programming at the site level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer occupational safety programs and ensure compliance with Federal and state OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Manage state workers' compensation and medical case management.
  • Oversee environmental stewardship, reporting, and physical security measures.
  • Coordinate the facility's Behavior Based Safety program and analyze data collected from observations.
  • Represent the company's interests in compliance enforcement actions and any litigation.
  • Conduct accident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and oversee abatement of causation.
  • Perform routine EHS&S inspections and assessments for continuous improvement.
  • Administer workers' compensation claims management, documentation, medical treatment, follow-up, and record retention.
  • Coordinate EHS&S required training for employees and maintain required documentation for plant training programs.
  • Maintain accurate OSHA Recordkeeping and worker's compensation required documentation.
  • Work with Human Resources to administer all location EHS&S certification training and compliance data as required.
  • Provide analysis of trends and costs associated with EHS&S oversight to facility management and corporate EHS&S.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and company policies.
  • Manage physical security, including access control systems, cameras, fencing, guard stations, and alarm systems.
Requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills and self-motivation.
  • Bias for action and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to drive the EHS&S program forward and engage associates within all levels of the organization.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good understanding of operations.
  • Experience with Safety, Security, U.S. OSHA and EPA, & Worker's Compensation administration in a manufacturing environment, preferably within the food industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred, with five (5) years of experience in EHS&S profession necessary.
  • Preferably credentialed in the EHS&S field (i.e., ASP, CSP, CIH, CHMM, REM, etc.).
  • Ability to travel to other locations 20% or less of the time.
Working Conditions

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will work in an office and manufacturing environment where the Team Member is regularly required to speak, read, and comprehend, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb, and bend while working in a fast-paced production environment.

May be required to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.

The employee is regularly exposed to heat, fumes, odors, dust, oil, slippery floors, moving parts/equipment, and non-toxic industrial waste and scrap.

SLIP-RESISTANT/Steel-toed SHOES, Earplugs, safety glasses, hairnets, beard nets (if facial hair exists) are required to be worn/used in accordance with company GMP and Safety standards.

Condition of these items must be inspected by employee daily and be replaced when no longer providing the optimal protection of the Team Member.
