Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Technologist III to join our Laboratory Services team at ProMedica Health System. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing routine and complex analytical procedures in our laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine and complex analytical procedures in specialty area
  • Serve as a resource with advanced technical knowledge and skills
  • Identify, monitor, and diagnose instrument malfunctions
  • Direct maintenance protocols and perform quality control records
  • Review quality control data and detect and correct quality control problems
  • Develop solutions to problems based on knowledge of biochemical theory, patient diagnosis, and instrument performance
  • Perform routine inquiry and data input on the laboratory computer system
  • Implement training and instructing of new employees and students as required
  • Present continuing education to employees in specialty area
  • Serve as a role model and evaluate new test procedures
  • Implement new test methodologies and establish procedures
  • Review and draft new protocols
  • Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field
  • MT/MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent categorical ASCP registry
  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to tolerate exposure to disease-bearing specimens, odorous chemicals, carcinogens, mutagens, low-level radiation, electrical hazards, and flammable liquids
  • Ability to differentiate colors and input and retrieve information from computer
