Job Summary

ProMedica Health System is seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join our team. As a Nuclear Medicine Technologist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our healthcare organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Utilize radiopharmaceuticals and radionuclides to perform diagnostic imaging, in vitro and in vivo testing, radiotherapy, and radiation safety.
  • Demonstrate competency and proficiency in imaging procedures performed on patients of all ages, including neonate, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Apply knowledge of radiation physics and safety regulations to practice radiation safety, using proper detection equipment and dosimetry to limit radiation exposure to patients, public, associates, and self.
  • Follow all rules and regulations pertaining to the safe and proper handling of radioactive materials.
  • Perform procedures according to physicians' orders and indications, ensuring proper patient preparation and scheduling of examinations.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals using an aseptic technique, verifying correct patient, proper radiopharmaceutical, dose, and completing appropriate documentation.
  • Seek to provide high-quality exams by properly completing patient medical history, charting, and documenting dose, following department policy and procedure, and providing necessary images/data.
  • Demonstrate competency in using radiology information and imaging systems (RIS, PACS, etc.) and hospital information systems (Insight, Pt. Transportation System, iCare, etc.) for correctly ordering exams, supplies, and other data input.
  • Maintain work area with inventory and in a clean and orderly manner, notifying supervisor of needed pharmaceuticals and supplies.
  • Utilize quality control techniques as part of the quality assurance program for all procedures and products in the department.
  • Operate equipment according to policy and alert appropriate individuals to malfunctions.
  • Meet continuing education requirements, complete hospital-required in-services, participate in research activities, and train assigned students, being accountable for their actions.
  • Must meet continuing education requirements to maintain nuclear medicine registry/license.
  • Demonstrate high levels of care, courtesy, and cooperation.
  • Educate patients about their procedure and ensure patients and their families' comfort and needs are appropriately addressed in a dignified and confidential manner.
  • Demonstrate awareness of safety standards for self and patients.
  • Follow organization's mission and values of customer service.
  • Perform other duties/tasks as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be a graduate of a nuclear medicine program.
  • Must be able to cope with stressful situations and handle deadlines in a demanding, fast-paced medical environment.
  • Must be able to understand directions, communicate, and respond to inquiries; requires effective interpersonal skills.
  • Must be competent in the use of facility communication systems and equipment (e.g., phones, fax machines, IBEX).
  • Must be able to input and retrieve information from radiological or other medical equipment and computerized systems.
  • Must have a valid State of Ohio Nuclear Medicine license and be registered by the ARRT or NMTCB certified.
  • Must be CPR certified.
