Job Overview

Position: Youth Program Site Supervisor

The YMCA of Greater Springfield Inc. is dedicated to enhancing community well-being. This role offers a chance to contribute positively to the lives of children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily operations of the School's Out program at designated locations under the supervision of the School Age Director.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with families, community members, and educational institutions.
  • Provide guidance and support to Group Leaders in areas such as child supervision, youth programming, and parent engagement.
  • Lead Group Leaders in developing and executing a comprehensive curriculum that embodies YMCA values.
  • Exemplify appropriate behaviors and decision-making for participants and colleagues.
  • Engage actively in all relevant meetings, training sessions, and activities.
  • Utilize effective guidance and developmental strategies to create a safe and conducive learning environment.
  • Provide substitute coverage at other sites as necessary.
  • Uphold and promote the policies outlined in the YMCA Parent Guide, Behavior Management Guide, and Staff Handbook.
  • Implement and enhance all YMCA curriculum and evaluation standards.
  • Coordinate logistical needs for the site, including supplies, staffing, and transportation.
  • Continuously assess programs and staff, offering recommendations for enhancements or modifications.
  • Complete a minimum of 20 hours of YMCA-provided training annually and lead one training session each year.
  • Serve as the primary individual responsible for child safety and risk management at assigned locations.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 20 years at the time of application (EEC requirement).
  • Associate's degree (completed or in progress) in education, child studies, child psychology, or a related field.
  • Additional years of professional experience or a Rank of E-5 or higher may substitute for educational requirements where applicable.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience working with school-age children.
  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service or relations.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in supervising staff.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certifications or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire.
  • Proven ability to conduct complex problem-solving independently.
  • Knowledge of child development techniques and a willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated punctuality and reliability.
