Role Responsibilities

We are seeking a Residential Counselor I to join our SHINE Young Adult Housing Program. This position is crucial in fostering a youth-centered, secure, and therapeutic atmosphere within an overnight emergency shelter for young adults facing homelessness. The Residential Counselor I will ensure that participants adhere to program guidelines and receive essential support services while managing emergency situations with professionalism.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a related field, particularly with youth, is preferred.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Must comply with agency standards regarding driving history.
  • Access to a vehicle for client transportation and other supportive services is necessary.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous but not essential.
Preferred Skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Proficient in conflict resolution.
  • Capable of mastering First Aid, CPR, Defensive Driving, Fire Safety, and crisis intervention techniques.
  • Reliable attendance is essential.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical capability to conduct property rounds.
