About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Development Director to join our team at the American Heart Association. As a key member of our fundraising team, you will be responsible for generating revenue through corporate sponsorships and individual donations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Revenue Generation: Develop and implement strategies to secure local corporate sponsorships and individual donations, achieving revenue goals through building and maintaining relationships with corporate partners and donors.
  • Pipeline Development: Conduct research to identify prospective corporate sponsors and donors, matching their goals and interests with our campaign objectives.
  • Proposal Development: Create and present proposals to secure revenue and volunteer engagement, including developing accompanying materials and presentations.
  • Volunteer Management: Recruit and manage executive volunteer leadership, volunteer committees, and day-of-the-event volunteers to support fundraising efforts.
  • Event Coordination: Lead the coordination of events, including soliciting auction items, preparing packages, and implementing strategies to raise funds.
  • Membership Development: Plan and implement regular engagement events for individual members of our Cor Vitae giving society, in partnership with other fundraising staff.
  • Event Planning: Collaborate with internal and external partners to plan and implement events that support our fundraising goals.
  • Communication Support: Work with our Communications Director to support and promote campaign communication plans.
Requirements
  • 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or equivalent type experience.
  • Ability to travel locally up to 30% and have access to reliable transportation at all times.
  • Ability to lift and/or move large objects, with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving.
  • Basic knowledge and skill/proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Preferred Qualifications
  • University/College degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience managing and cultivating high-level leaders at the C-Suite level.
  • Knowledge of corporate and community networks.
