Job Summary

The City of Kettering's Public Service Department is seeking a skilled Equipment Mechanic I or II to join our team at the Vehicle Maintenance Center. As a key member of our fleet maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a wide variety of vehicles and equipment in our fleet.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair vehicles and equipment using proper procedures and techniques
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and brake pad replacements
  • Work independently to complete assigned tasks and projects
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Manager to prioritize and schedule repairs and maintenance
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest diagnostic techniques and technologies
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of methods and procedures for repairing and maintaining vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to navigate and understand diagnostic flow charts, electrical diagrams, and hydraulic circuit diagrams
  • Law Enforcement Vehicle Technician certification or Fire Apparatus Technician Level II certification is desirable
  • Basic knowledge of occupational hazards and safety procedures, as well as Federal and State transportation regulations
  • Experience with Faster Fleet Management Software (Faster Web) is preferred
