Heavy Equipment Technician

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team at Vets Hired. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing a variety of heavy equipment, including front end loaders, excavators, and ready-mix trucks.
Main Responsibilities- Adopt a safety-first approach to all work activities, adhering to company safety protocols and procedures.
- Support and promote the company's core values, vision, and mission, and adhere to the code of ethics and workplace conduct.
- Use diagnostic equipment and visual inspection techniques to identify faults or malfunctions in heavy equipment.
- Repair and replace damaged or worn parts, and dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment as needed.
- Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects and ensure proper performance.
- Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
- Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings to ensure proper operation of equipment.
- Install new ignition systems, change/charge batteries, and replace transmissions and other parts as required.
- Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and make adjustments as needed.
- Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance work on equipment and vehicles.
- High school graduate or equivalent required; technical school in a related field a plus.
- 3 or more years of experience as a diesel/heavy equipment mechanic preferred.
- Proven experience with Cat, Komatsu, and Volvo equipment and diagnostic software.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
- Basic computer skills, including ability to operate mobile devices and related applications.
- Able to lift or move up to 100 pounds.
- Able to stand, walk, sit, reach, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Able to work in high and sometimes confined spaces.
- Able to work in wet and/or dry conditions and extreme heat and cold.
