Job Summary

The City of Dayton seeks a highly skilled Kiln Operator II to oversee the operation of a lime kiln and supervise the work of junior operators. The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving skills, strong leadership abilities, and a deep understanding of kiln operations.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of junior kiln operators
  • Monitor and maintain kiln equipment, ensuring efficient operation and minimizing downtime
  • Collect and analyze data related to lime and carbon dioxide production
  • Develop and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • Two years of experience in kiln operation and maintenance, or six months of experience as a Kiln Operator I with a valid Ohio EPA Water Supply I certification
  • Valid driver's license and ability to maintain a clean driving record
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
