Job Summary

The Board Member will play a vital role in shaping the strategic direction of SafePlace, ensuring the organization's mission and values are upheld, and contributing to the decision-making process. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about making a positive impact in their community and are committed to the mission of SafePlace.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Attend and actively participate in monthly Board meetings, other Committee Meetings, and Board-sponsored events throughout the year.
  2. Oversee the financial management of SafePlace, including careful review and approval of the annual budget.
  3. Raise funds for SafePlace to support our programs and services.
  4. Ensure that SafePlace programs and services are maintained and delivered in a culturally responsive manner.
  5. Amend the Articles, by-laws, and policies of SafePlace as needed.
  6. Hire, review, and support the Executive Director.
  7. Drive and direct SafePlace's strategic goals, ensuring alignment with our mission and values.
  8. Ensure the Board's own effective composition and functions through training and the recruitment and selection of new directors.
Requirements

We are seeking individuals who are passionate about creating positive change in their community and are committed to the mission of SafePlace. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Experience in non-profit management, fundraising, or a related field is an asset.
