Job Description:

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role in the Operating Room, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients during surgery. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare the Operating Room for surgery, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Assist the surgeon during surgery, providing support and maintaining a safe environment for the patient.
  • Care for the patient during surgery, monitoring their vital signs and responding to any changes.
  • Care for the instruments and supplies used in surgery, ensuring they are properly cleaned and maintained.
Requirements:
  • Minimum two years of scrub experience or equivalent relevant experience required.
  • Strong experience in ENT, Plastics, and Eye surgery is highly preferred.
  • Experience in an Academic Level - Trauma center or similar size hospital is required.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a surgical technologist program or two years of experience in a Surgical Technologist role may be considered in lieu of completion of program.
  • Two completed references from recent work environment/assignments are required.
Work Environment:

Travelers will work in the Operating Room at University Hospital, 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792. A permit is required through UW Transportation for parking.

Shifts and Schedule:

Shifts will be 3x12's, 7a - 7p, Monday - Friday, with call and weekend rotation. The minimum guaranteed hours are 36 per week.
