Position Overview

As a key member of the City of Denton team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional service to our community. Your primary responsibility will be to assist customers through various channels, including phone, electronic communication, and in-person interactions, ensuring their inquiries and service requests are handled with professionalism and courtesy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage high volumes of incoming calls across multiple departments.
  • Perform standard office tasks, including customer support via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions, while directing inquiries appropriately.
  • Process payments and maintain accurate records of transactions.
  • Support interdepartmental cash handling and reporting functions.
  • Ensure compliance with internal cash handling policies and procedures.
  • Assist with the setup of commercial accounts and validate necessary documentation.
  • Contribute to various projects and back-office tasks as required.
  • Provide assistance to colleagues with complex customer issues.

Solid Waste Responsibilities

  • Address customer requests related to waste management, including weigh-in and weigh-out processes at the landfill.
  • Manage financial transactions for landfill customers, including processing payments and issuing receipts.
  • Accurately enter data into the landfill management system and generate necessary reports.
  • Assist with system upgrades and testing as needed.
  • Support the Home Chemical Collection Division by educating customers on acceptable materials and assisting with sorting and processing.
  • Act as a backup for supervisory roles when necessary.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of customer service experience.
  • At least six months of cash handling experience.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and other software systems.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

Conditions of Employment

Successful candidates will be required to pass a drug test and background check. Flexibility in work hours may be necessary to meet departmental needs.
