Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with individuals and small groups in the classroom to reinforce material introduced by the teacher.
  • Model language and behavior for students and provide support for non-instructional classroom duties.
  • Collect, prepare, and arrange resource materials for use by certified personnel.
  • Operate support equipment and monitor testing or make-up work by students.
  • Maintain classroom records, prepare reports, and score tests.
  • Monitor student activities in classrooms, school grounds, and other areas.
  • Provide support for students with special needs, including training in self-help skills and adaptive equipment maintenance.
  • Escort students to other locations on campus and off campus with the approval of the classroom teacher.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Meet the NCLB highly qualified requirements.
  • 48 college credit hours or pass the Paraprofessional Test.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations.
  • Knowledge of APS community, computer systems, financial, and legal requirements.
