Position Overview:

As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or licensed Nurse, assisting with essential patient care tasks within a nursing unit.

Unit Details:

This role is situated in a specialized 36-bed unit focusing on Neuro Telemetry and Neuro Surgical Services. Our patient demographic primarily includes individuals with neurological conditions such as strokes, brain and spinal injuries, and other related disorders.

Team Dynamics:

Our unit prides itself on a collaborative environment, maintaining a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3-5, which is adjusted based on patient needs. We foster strong relationships with our neuro specialists to enhance patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fulfill the expectations of the OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
  • Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes for patients.
  • Complete necessary documentation accurately.
  • Prepare patient rooms for new admissions, including setting up IV equipment and adjusting beds.
  • Ensure all patient belongings are transported with them during transfers or discharges.
  • Safely transport stable patients as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and security while interacting with patients and their families.
  • Manage equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness and availability.
  • Run errands for the nursing unit as required.
  • Support licensed personnel in creating a safe and comfortable environment, including replenishing supplies in patient rooms.
  • Perform specific patient care tasks as outlined in the skills checklist and document accordingly.
  • Identify and report any significant changes in patient conditions to the supervising nurse.
  • Assist in inventory management of stock items.
  • Organize unit supplies effectively.
  • Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Communicate efficiently with team members during shifts.
  • Attend to phone calls and patient call lights promptly.
  • Adapt care methods to meet the diverse needs of each patient.
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform assigned patient care responsibilities competently.
Qualifications:

A. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

B. Experience: Previous patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

C. Certifications: A valid CNA License in the state of employment is required, along with BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
