Piper Companies is currently in search of a Biomedical Technician with expertise in networking. This role is essential for maintaining the integrity, performance, and safety of medical devices. The Biomedical Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to preventive and corrective maintenance, inspections of incoming equipment, and ensuring cybersecurity measures are in place for medical devices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance on a wide array of medical devices to guarantee optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and repair issues in medical equipment, ensuring adherence to manufacturer specifications and safety protocols.
  • Perform thorough inspections of newly acquired medical devices to confirm compliance with established safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with IT and cybersecurity teams to enforce security protocols for medical devices, safeguarding patient information from potential cyber threats.
  • Install, calibrate, and configure medical equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Background in a medical facility or Biomedical Engineering department, or experience with a government agency.
  • Educational background: Associate degree or higher in applied science or equivalent military training.
  • Proven ability to execute operational verification procedures, planned maintenance, and repair services on various medical devices.
  • Competency in managing and maintaining computer-based medical equipment, medical record systems, and relevant software; familiarity with TCP/IP, HL7, networking, network security, and DICOM standards.
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting networked medical devices, including VLAN configuration, IP addressing, sub-netting, and network security.
Additional Requirements:
  • Must be a US Citizen and legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the necessary federal public trust clearance for this position.
  • Proof of COVID vaccination and flu vaccination during flu season is required.
