We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investigator to join our Special Investigation Unit (SIU) - PREA Team in the New York City Department of Correction. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting complex and sensitive investigations, including those related to sexual abuse and harassment incidents within the Department.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct thorough and unbiased investigations of reported and alleged sexual abuse or harassment incidents
- Liaise with external agencies, including the Department of Investigation, the New York City Police Department, and district attorneys' offices
- Prepare and review reports, studies, and recommendations for administrative action
- Provide direct supervision of staff and testify at hearings and court proceedings
- Stay up-to-date with DOC procedures, rules, and regulations, as well as the criminal justice system
- A four-year high school diploma or its equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in a related field
- Or a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college
- Or education and/or experience equivalent to the above
- Previous investigative experience, with at least two years of experience
- Knowledge of NYPD investigative procedures and processes, as well as the New York City criminal justice system
- Ability to be objective and thorough in conducting investigations
- Experience conducting investigations using various data sources
- Excellent communication, analytical, research, problem-solving, presentation, and writing skills
