About the Role

Powell Industries is seeking a skilled Assembler to join our team in a 2nd shift position. As an Assembler, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of our electrical units and switchgear products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble electrical units and switchgear components according to drawings and instructions.
  • Build and repair mechanical components for switchgear units.
  • Ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying potential risks to product quality.
  • Promote a safety culture and attend all safety meetings.
  • Work effectively within a team and around other departments and their activities.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 0-3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and understand conversions between units.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Basic computer knowledge considered an asset.
  • Prior ability or interest in building or repairing mechanical components considered an asset.
  • Safety training certificates are an asset for the position.
Working Conditions
  • Safety-sensitive position in a temperature-controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment at all times and respirators when required.
  • Must be able to work from all types of ladders and scaffolding.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  • Continuous standing, walking foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
