About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Assembler to join our team at Powell Industries. As a Senior Assembler, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the assembly process of various products, ensuring that they meet quality standards and production deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
  • Perform maintenance and proper use of tools.
  • Perform in-process inspections; ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
  • Lead team members on all aspects of ship prep.
  • Assist in training employees.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis on engineering changes and correct discrepancies.
  • Identify and track shortages.
  • Assist in processing ship loose and communicate to QA/QC.
  • Lead a small team of employees to complete a specific task assigned as assigned by lead assembler and/or supervisor.
  • Perform final in-process inspections.
  • Identify and track shortages.
  • Perform mechanical adjustments for switchgear and/or breakers.
  • Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.
  • Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.
Requirements
  • Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.
  • 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial).
  • Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of system software (i.e. Oracle, MES, True View) to look up parts and drawings.
  • Safely use variety of hand/power tools.
  • Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.
