Job Overview

Salary: Starting at $22.00 per hour

Position Summary:

The Fleet Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational efficiency of the company's vehicle fleet. This position involves collaborating with the Fleet Supervisor to maintain a productive, organized, and safe working environment while ensuring that all equipment is in optimal condition. The Fleet Mechanic is responsible for conducting preventative maintenance and repairs on both gasoline and diesel vehicles, while also coordinating with various departments to enhance overall fleet performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute timely and high-quality repairs on fleet vehicles while adhering to safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Regularly inspect the work area, including the Fleet Shop and surrounding locations, to identify safety hazards and maintain cleanliness.
  • Adhere to established procedures and promptly report any incidents or procedural deviations to management.
  • Conduct vehicle maintenance tasks, including inspecting and repairing gasoline and diesel engines, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and completing scheduled service work orders.
  • Manage inventory levels of parts and tools, notifying supervisors when reordering is necessary.
  • Complete Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) as directed by management.
  • Perform maintenance on all types of equipment as assigned, within the scope of qualifications and training.
  • Occasionally operate various equipment as required.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide insights specific to fleet operations.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver's License
  • D.O.T. Medical Card
  • Ability to quickly switch between tasks
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanic role is preferred.
  • PA State Inspections License (Class 7) is preferred.
  • AC (EPA 609) Certification is preferred.
  • Experience in welding is preferred.
  • OSHA-10 Certification is a plus.
  • Experience in automotive technology is preferred.
  • Experience operating machinery is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform all necessary fleet maintenance tasks.
  • Must be capable of driving a Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV).
  • Frequent requirements to sit, stand, walk, bend, and stretch.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
