Aircraft Structural Installation Specialist Job Description

At RGBSI, we are seeking a highly skilled Aircraft Structural Installation Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our aviation maintenance team, you will be responsible for planning, laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and repairing both internal and external aircraft structures and surfaces in accordance with technical manuals, engineering drawings, and FAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Structural Installation and Repair: Disassemble existing aircraft structure for modification install, which could involve modifying removed parts or installing new parts from a kit per engineering drawings.
  • Technical Interpretation: Interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings for the proper tools, fasteners, location, and methods of installation to meet required specifications.
  • Quality Control: Lay out, locate, fit, trim, assemble, and install parts assemblies and skins where dimensions are critical, and fitting is to exacting tolerance.
  • Surface Preparation: Drill, countersink, and rivet exterior skin panels where skin quality is critical.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Complete detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed.
  • Computer-Based Systems: Utilize computer-based systems to perform duties.
  • Confined Space Work: May be required to work in confined spaces.
  • Detail Parts Fabrication: Fabricate detail parts from blueprint or engineering instructions.
  • Aircraft Inventory and Inspection: Perform aircraft inventory, acceptance, and inspections.
Requirements:
  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of aircraft mechanical experience.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret aircraft technical orders, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Training and Development: Always maintain training currency.
  • Self-Motivation and Time Management: Must be self-motivated and have the ability to schedule job tasks to meet completion timelines.
  • Experience and Certifications: Five (5) years of documented experience in aircraft structural installation, modification, troubleshooting, and repair. Heavy C-130 structural modification experience preferred.
