Role Summary:

Ohalo is on the lookout for individuals who are enthusiastic about hands-on plant cultivation to enhance our greenhouse operations. As a Greenhouse Technician, you will contribute to the production of vibrant, healthy plants that support innovative plant breeding initiatives. Key responsibilities encompass planting, transplanting, irrigation management, pest and disease monitoring, weeding, data documentation, seed harvesting, and controlled pollination tasks. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to safety, efficiency, reliability, and responsibility. A willingness to engage in repetitive physical activities, such as potting and planting, is essential. Previous experience in greenhouse or agricultural settings is advantageous but not mandatory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily care and maintenance for various plant species
  • Collaborate with scientists to accurately gather and document data using digital tools
  • Monitor for pests and weeds, employing manual removal and beneficial insect applications
  • Conduct pesticide applications and maintain accurate records
  • Prepare growing media and plant or transplant seeds and cuttings
  • Adjust irrigation, nutrients, lighting, and climate conditions to enhance plant vitality
  • Harvest, process, and catalog seeds
  • Ensure a clean and safe working environment
  • Safeguard company information, including proprietary data

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of plant science, horticulture, and pest management
  • Ability to work collaboratively within diverse teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach
  • Attention to detail and commitment to routine tasks
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods
  • Availability to work on weekends
  • Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license and eligibility for company vehicle insurance
