About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Patient Access Specialist to join our team at Ensemble Health Partners. As a key member of our revenue cycle management team, you will be responsible for performing admitting duties for all patients receiving services at our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform admitting duties for all patients, including assigning accurate MRNs, completing medical necessity or compliance checks, and providing proper patient instructions.
  • Collect and process insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and provide excellent customer service as measured by Press Ganey.
  • Operate the telephone switchboard to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office calls as applicable.
  • Utilize quality auditing and reporting systems to ensure accounts are corrected, including accounts for other employees, departments, and facilities.
  • Develop and implement training materials and programs for new hires to the department, as well as provide continuing education to associates in all areas of the revenue cycle.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules within the patient access department.
  • Provide on-call support and guidance to the department, including working unscheduled times to cover staffing issues.
  • Collect point of service payments, including emergency, outpatient, and inpatient situations, and offer payment plan options.
  • Conduct audits of accounts and ensure all forms are completed accurately and timely to meet audit standards.
  • Provide statistical data to Patient Access Leadership and hold accountability for point of service goals as assigned.
Requirements
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in patient access or a related field.
  • Associate degree or equivalent experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of revenue cycle, including admission, billing, payments, and denials.
  • Understanding of patient insurance process for obtaining authorizations and benefits verification.
  • Knowledge of Health Insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or CPT or procedure codes.
