Job Opportunity

The Academy Charter Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate English Language Instructor to join our team. As an English Language Instructor, you will play a vital role in deepening students' mastery of the English Language through reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver instruction to small groups of students, upholding the school's mission to provide a world-class education.
  • Teach a standards-based curriculum that incorporates the New York State English As A Second Language standards and the English Language Arts Standards.
  • Pull out classroom to provide ESL instruction in small groups, pushing in classroom to differentiate instruction in English Language Arts.
  • Design and implement lesson plans and supplementary materials, incorporating technology on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide interactive and meaningful learning materials to students, maintaining a positive learning environment for active participation.
  • Conduct periodic assessments to measure student growth and progress, implementing and delivering quality instruction to prepare students to pass the NYSESLAT.
  • Engage students in problem-solving, critical thinking, and other activities that make subject matter meaningful, facilitating learning and promoting self-directed learning.

Requirements:

  • 2-3 years teaching experience in a public school, private school, or charter school setting, or similar background.
  • Knowledge and experience in preparing students for the NYSESLAT.
  • Bachelor's degree in English from an accredited college or university, Master's Degree preferred.
  • Valid New York State ESL Teacher Certification.
