Job Title: Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Job Specialty: Rehabilitation Therapy

Job Duration: 13 Weeks

Shift: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours per Week

Experience: Minimum 3 Years as a Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist

License: Valid, current, full, and unrestricted Speech-Language Pathology license from any state, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico

Certifications:

  • Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification by the American Heart Association

Must-Have:

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an ASHA-accredited school
  • Able to meet credentialing requirements for Medical Staff

Job Description:

  • Provide quality speech and/or language therapy services to patients with various developmental, cognitive, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities
  • Perform speech therapy for inpatient and outpatient settings
  • Assess and interpret evaluations and test results for a wide age range, from birth to geriatric
  • Document evaluations, treatments, follow-ups, and service terminations in electronic health records
  • Determine and implement speech therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians, setting realistic goals based on patient needs and evaluation findings
  • Recommend and implement modifications to therapy plans based on patient progress
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on speech-language procedures/therapies or home programs
  • Provide specialty services including swallowing evaluation, VFSS, MBS, FEES, cognitive treatment, voice treatment, pediatric therapy, and feeding evaluation
  • Assist in the development of speech therapy services focusing on quality improvement, risk management, and safety
  • Comply with federal and state certification requirements and follow organizational policy and procedures
  • Adhere to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association's Scope of Practice
  • Provide training and in-services for student and staff education
  • Collaborate with the Physical Rehabilitation team and other healthcare professionals

Other Requirements:

  • Orientation sessions available every two weeks
  • COVID-19 medical exemption applications may be subject to approval from the medical review board
  • Holiday coverage may be required
