Infrastructure Director

Job Summary: The University of Minnesota seeks a highly skilled and experienced Infrastructure Director to lead the facilities management, cage wash, and supply chain operations of the Research Animal Resources (RAR) department. This key role will be responsible for ensuring the animal facility environment is in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as university policies and AAALAC accreditation standards. The successful candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, leadership, and regulatory compliance, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

* Establish and maintain operational redundancy measures to ensure continuity of critical functions
* Oversee supply chain logistics, including procurement and inventory management
* Ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards for all operational facilities
* Collaborate with UMN Facilities Management to develop and implement effective partnerships
* Lead the development and implementation of quality assurance programs and resource management strategies
* Drive operational excellence initiatives and adopt new technologies and procedures

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree plus at least 12 years of experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
* Strong verbal and written communication skills
* Experience with regulatory compliance and facilities management
* Ability to lead and motivate a team, and manage multiple priorities effectively

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree in Business Administration or a related field
* Ten+ years of progressive supervisory and managerial experience in a laboratory animal setting
* Experience in managing research building infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, and safety systems
* Strategic thinking with the ability to develop long-term plans for facility management
