Key Responsibilities:
  • Abstract and analyze data from trauma patients to identify trends and patterns
  • Develop and design accurate quality data for the Summa Health System Trauma Registry
  • Collaborate with the Trauma Program Manager and Trauma Medical Director to ensure data accuracy and quality
  • Perform data entry, coding, and ad hoc reporting on trauma patients according to established guidelines
  • Assist in the preparation for American College of Surgeons Level I trauma center verification
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in technology, coding, medical/nursing/biological science, Health Information Management, or related field
  • Three years' experience in healthcare information, clinical, or administrative information systems
  • Experience in ICD-10CM & PCS coding, AIS/ISS coding and scoring, E codes
  • Abbreviated Injury Scale Certification (CAISS) or Certified Specialist in Trauma Registries (CSTR) designation
  • Proficiency in Epic and Trauma Registry software products
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Trauma, Burn, or Cancer Registry experience
  • Experience in trauma registry methodology, case abstraction, data entry, coding, and ad hoc reporting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality/HIPAA compliance of patient records
