Job Overview

Best Point Education & Behavioral Health is in search of a dedicated individual to oversee and coordinate the Food Service operations within our organization. This role involves preparing and serving meals according to established recipes and service methods set forth by the Nutrition and Culinary Manager, while executing various responsibilities.

Essential Qualifications:

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required. Certification in Serve Safe or as a Person in Charge is necessary. Candidates should possess experience in a commercial food service environment, which includes supervising personnel, menu development, procurement, and inventory management. Proficiency in operating large-scale food service equipment such as dishwashers, slicers, mixers, steamers, and convection ovens is essential. Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices is also required.

Applicants must demonstrate the ability to apply common sense to follow written or verbal instructions, solve practical issues, and handle various situations that may arise. Maintaining composure in high-pressure scenarios and fostering effective working relationships with students, staff, and the community is crucial. Proficiency in computer usage is expected, along with a commitment to adhere to all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Work Environment:

The position involves exposure to a mix of office, school, cafeteria, and kitchen settings. Candidates should be prepared for potential elevated temperatures in kitchen areas and regular interaction with kitchen equipment, as well as hot or boiling liquids. There may be exposure to children exhibiting behavioral challenges, as well as instances of verbal and physical aggression. Additionally, candidates may encounter biological materials such as blood or vomit.

While fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, the employee is frequently required to:

sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 pounds; stand for extended periods; push carts weighing up to 100 pounds; and operate a vehicle safely in varying weather conditions.

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Occasional vehicle operation to and from work during adverse weather conditions.
  • Exposure to extreme hot and cold environments.
  • Potential for transferring products in personal or agency vehicles, or driving to meetings in personal vehicles.
  • Requirement to lift, carry, push, and pull various items weighing up to 50 pounds.
