Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Research Coordinator to join our team at the Portland VA Research Foundation. The successful candidate will assist in the coordination and execution of multiple elements in human subjects research and standard of care within the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) Precision Oncology Program for Cancer Prostate (POPCaP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in processing and sending out lab samples, including blood, tissue, saliva, urine, and stool
  • Communicate, recruit, and work with Veterans to facilitate complex clinical trials
  • Conduct informed consent and administer surveys to patients
  • Maintain a working knowledge of FDA and IRB guidelines that govern clinical research
  • Enter patient data into electronic database systems
  • Maintain organized and accurate study records
  • Support coverage across the study team, stepping in when necessary to screen and enroll patients, request and review medical records, assist Principal Investigator with grant writing, and other study related tasks, as needed
  • Attend research coordinator educational opportunities at OHSU and the Portland VA

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; preferably in a scientific or social science discipline
  • Previous experience with human subjects' research preferred
  • Clear written and oral communication in English with Veterans of all backgrounds
  • Basic proficiency with: MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, MS Access, Outlook
