Position Summary:
We are in search of a seasoned Compensation Partner to support our Specialty Underwriting (UW) division. This role is a vital component of the HR team, tasked with ensuring that the compensation programs and structures for the Specialty UW division, our largest sector, are competitive, fair, and aligned with our business objectives to attract and retain exceptional talent worldwide. The ideal candidate will possess strategic insight, a comprehensive understanding of compensation frameworks, regulatory compliance, and preferably experience within the underwriting job family.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with HR Business Partners (HRBPs) and business leaders to formulate a strategic roadmap, recommending solutions that leverage our global compensation programs while adhering to our guiding principles; ensuring effective collaboration with key HR roles including Global Compensation and Executive Compensation.
  • Conduct benchmarking of roles and analyze market data to maintain competitive compensation levels while staying abreast of industry trends.
  • Perform in-depth analyses and prepare presentations on various compensation scenarios.
  • Provide expert guidance and market insights on intricate compensation matters, proposing viable solutions.
  • Work alongside HRBPs and business leaders to unify compensation programs, plans, and processes across enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Guide client groups through annual compensation cycles.
  • Lead strategic compensation initiatives across diverse client groups.
  • Collaborate with business and recruitment teams to create competitive offer packages for new hires.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Compensation, with a background in the insurance sector.
  • At least 5 years of experience in business partnering or consulting roles.
  • Proven experience and understanding of complex total reward compensation structures and incentives.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex HR processes in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, with the ability to model, interpret data, and present findings at an executive level.
  • Ability to work autonomously while managing a diverse range of activities and projects with a positive outlook.
  • Familiarity with Workday is advantageous.
  • Experience with benchmarking tools such as Market Pay is preferred.
  • Exposure to M&A activities is a plus.
  • Exemplify the Markel Style with integrity and discretion.
