Position Overview

The Department of Radiology at Tufts Medical Center is actively seeking an Academic Neuroradiologist to assume the role of Section Chief. This position is integral to our expanding department, which boasts high-quality residency and fellowship programs. We prioritize diversity, inclusive leadership, and supportive mentorship, alongside the importance of work-life balance and physician well-being.

Vision of the TMC Radiology Department
  • To establish a patient-centered center of excellence for imaging services, education, and research.
  • Our goal is to fulfill this vision by providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients while advancing the field of radiology through research and education.

Mission of the TMC Radiology Department

  • Deliver exceptional care tailored to patient needs.
  • Focus on treating the patient rather than just the images.
  • Foster creativity in physician education and scientific innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of neuroradiologists in the capacity of section chief.
  • Interpret brain, spine, and head & neck imaging studies, including acute stroke, trauma, and functional MRI.
  • Engage in a limited volume of pediatric neuroradiology.
  • Provide education to radiology residents and fellows.
  • Encourage participation in research and quality improvement initiatives, typically supervising medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Manage weekend on-call duties remotely, with home workstations provided.
  • Explore opportunities for voluntary internal moonlighting for additional income.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary and educational conferences.
  • While full-time onsite work is preferred, requests for partial remote work can be accommodated based on individual circumstances.
  • Receive annual incentives based on academic productivity, teaching contributions, and clinical performance during the annual review.
  • Academic time will be allocated according to educational and research needs.
  • Administrative time will be provided for those in leadership roles.

Tufts Medical Center, a Level-1 Trauma Center, serves as the academic flagship of Tufts Medicine, a healthcare network that includes community healthcare practices. We also function as the clinical faculty for the ACGME Diagnostic Radiology and Fellowship programs at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Academic Rank

Positions available include Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine, based on academic achievements. Exceptional candidates may be considered for accelerated promotion to a higher academic rank.

Leadership Opportunities

We offer leadership roles in medical student education, residency and fellowship training, and administrative leadership, tailored to career stage and aspirations.

Facilities and Equipment

  • Advanced Phillips Tesla MRI systems with ultrafast MR imaging supported by AI reconstructions, including a 3.0 Tesla magnet and a new 1.5 Tesla MR.
  • Two dual-source, dual-energy Siemens Force CT scanners.
  • One AS 64 CT scanner equipped with an IR guidance package.
  • Eight new GE E10 ultrasound machines.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must possess an MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent degree.
  • Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR) is required.
  • Completion of a Neuroradiology Fellowship with CAQ certification or eligibility is essential.
  • Expertise in brain, spine, and head & neck imaging, including oncologic imaging, acute stroke, and trauma; familiarity with advanced MR techniques and basic neuro fluoroscopy guided procedures is expected.
  • The ideal candidate will demonstrate a service-oriented, practice-building mindset with a strong motivation to lead the section. Proven leadership experience is advantageous, but early-career neuroradiologists with a clear vision for leadership will also be considered.
  • Medical licensure or eligibility in Massachusetts is required.

Visa Support

  • Tufts Medical Center offers visa support (H1B, O-1, and J-1 waiver positions, depending on circumstances) for qualified candidates.
  • We welcome applications from diverse backgrounds, including those completing or who have completed an alternate pathway for ABR certification.
