The Department of Radiology at Tufts Medical Center is actively seeking an academic radiologist specializing in body imaging to assume the role of Section Chief. This position is part of a growing department that prides itself on high-quality residency and fellowship programs. Role Overview

The Section Chief of body imaging will lead a team of radiologists, residents, and fellows within the body imaging section. Clinical responsibilities include the interpretation of body CT, MRI, and ultrasound studies, as well as plain films and fluoroscopic GI contrast studies during standard hours. Interventional radiology procedures are managed by the IR department and are not a requirement for body imagers. The role includes participation in multidisciplinary and educational conferences with various departments, as well as involvement in research and quality improvement initiatives, typically overseeing medical students, residents, and fellows.

Weekend on-call duties are remote, with home workstations provided for each radiologist. Opportunities for voluntary internal moonlighting are available for those interested in additional income.

Administrative and academic time will be allocated based on responsibilities in administration, education, and research.

Incentives for academic productivity, teaching contributions, and clinical work are available and compensated annually during performance reviews with the Chair.

Tufts Medical Center serves as a Level-1 Trauma Center and is the academic flagship of Tufts Medicine, which encompasses a network of community healthcare practices. We are the clinical faculty for the ACGME Diagnostic Radiology and Fellowship programs at Tufts University School of Medicine.

Academic Rank

Positions available include Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Radiology at Tufts University School of Medicine, commensurate with academic achievements. Exceptional candidates may be considered for accelerated promotion to a higher academic rank.

Facilities and Equipment

  • Advanced Phillips Tesla MRI systems with ultrafast MR imaging supported by AI reconstructions, including a 3.0 Tesla magnet and a new 1.5 Tesla MR.
  • Two dual-source, dual-energy Siemens Force CT scanners.
  • One AS 64 CT scanner equipped with an IR guidance package.
  • Eight new GE E10 ultrasound machines.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must possess an MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent degree.
  • Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR).
  • Expertise in multimodality body imaging, particularly in cancer and transplant imaging (especially liver transplant).
  • Medical licensure or eligibility in Massachusetts.

  • Tufts Medical Center offers visa support (H1B, O-1, and J-1 waiver positions, depending on circumstances) for qualified candidates.
