Job Title: Lead Radiologic Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Radiologic Technologist to join our team at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). As a key member of our radiology department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of imaging services to our patients.

Job Summary:

The Lead Radiologic Technologist will be responsible for coordinating and maintaining the efficient utilization of available imaging time and human resources within the division on a daily basis. This will involve working closely with the Assistant Chief Technologist/Chief Technologist to assist and coordinate patient flow, as well as providing support to clerical and support staff within the division.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform all staff technologist duties as assigned and required.
  • Assist with the coordination and maintenance of the efficient utilization of available imaging time and human resources within the division.
  • Perform Quality Control checks for exams and equipment as established by the division.
  • Monitor adherence to safety policies established within the hospital and division.
  • Participate in ongoing Quality Improvement Projects within the division.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior staff members.
  • Maintain effective working relations and communication with divisional and other hospital personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Graduated from an approved school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Valid permanent Massachusetts license as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience as a Radiologic Technologist.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients who may be under physical and/or emotional stress.
  • Analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and procedures and cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Ability to adapt to changing pace within the department, with frequent interruptions.
  • Presents a positive attitude and a professional appearance.
  • Physically capable of lifting, (linen, supplies, patients, etc.).
  • A comprehensive understanding of the Radiology Information System and Hospital Information System that integrate with the Department of Radiology relating to patient information.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to adapt to diverse roles as a member of the department team.
  • Aware of hazards within the department (ionizing radiation, universal precautions, etc.) and adhere to safety standards established by BWH and regulatory agencies.
Working Conditions:
  • Must be prepared to work overtime, holidays, and weekends as needed.
  • Works in a large open area in radiology, which is noisy and tends to have extreme temperature and humidity variations.
  • Minimal exposure to ionizing radiation when using proper safety procedures.
  • Continuous standing and lifting.
  • Exposure to human waste and disease.
  • Considerable stress from dealing with a wide variety of hospital staff, patients, and families.
