Chief of Neuroradiology
Position Overview
The Department of Radiology at Tufts Medical Center is actively seeking an Academic Neuroradiologist to assume the role of Section Chief. This position is part of a dynamic department that boasts high-quality residency and fellowship programs. We prioritize diversity, inclusive leadership, and supportive mentorship, alongside the importance of work-life balance and physician well-being.
Vision of the Radiology Department
To establish a patient-centered center of excellence for imaging services, education, and research.
Our goal is to fulfill this vision by providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients while advancing the field of radiology through innovative research and by educating the next generation of leaders in our field.
Mission of the Radiology Department
- Deliver exceptional care tailored to the needs of patients.
- Focus on treating the patient holistically rather than just the images.
- Foster a creative environment for physician education and scientific innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of neuroradiologists in the capacity of section chief.
- Conduct interpretations of brain, spine, and head & neck imaging studies, including acute stroke, trauma, and functional MRI.
- Engage in a limited volume of pediatric neuroradiology.
- Instruct radiology residents and fellows.
- Encourage participation in research initiatives and quality improvement projects, typically supervising medical students, residents, and fellows.
- Manage weekend on-call responsibilities (dedicated Neuro call, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM) remotely, with home workstations provided.
- Explore opportunities for voluntary internal moonlighting (i.e., additional weekend calls) for those interested in extra income.
- Participate in multidisciplinary and educational conferences.
- While full-time onsite work is preferred, we can accommodate requests for partial remote work based on individual circumstances.
- Receive annual compensation for academic productivity, teaching contributions, and clinical work, assessed during the annual performance review with the Chair.
- Academic time will be allocated according to educational and research needs.
- Administrative time will be provided for individuals in leadership roles.

The position offers an academic rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor of Radiology at the Tufts University School of Medicine, based on academic achievements. Exceptional candidates may be considered for accelerated promotion to a higher academic rank.
Leadership Opportunities
We provide leadership roles in medical student education, residency and fellowship training, and administrative leadership, aligned with career stage and future aspirations.
Facilities and Equipment
- Access to state-of-the-art Phillips Tesla MRI with ultrafast MR imaging supported by deep learning (AI) reconstructions, along with additional 3.0 Tesla and 1.5 Tesla MR systems.
- Two dual-source, dual-energy Siemens Force CT scanners.
- One AS 64 CT scanner equipped with an IR guidance package.
- Eight new GE E10 ultrasound machines.
Candidate Requirements
- Must possess an MD, DO, MBBS, or equivalent degree.
- Board eligibility/certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR) or American Osteopathic Board of Radiology (AOBR).
- Completion of a Neuroradiology Fellowship with CAQ certification/eligibility is required.
- Expertise in brain, spine, and head & neck imaging, including oncologic imaging, acute stroke, and trauma; familiarity with advanced MR techniques and capability to perform basic neuro fluoroscopy guided procedures, such as lumbar puncture and myelogram.
- The ideal candidate will exhibit a service-oriented, practice-building mindset with a strong motivation to lead the section. Proven leadership experience is advantageous, but we will consider early-career neuroradiologists with a clear vision and determination to lead.
- Medical licensure or eligibility in the relevant state is required.
