Position Overview:
The Accountant will engage in comprehensive accounting activities, provide training for new hires and clients on financial systems, and address issues for designated clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducts professional accounting for assigned clients, which may include:
- Gathering necessary information from clients to complete tasks.
- Preparing sales tax submissions and related deposits.
- Performing bank reconciliations.
- Generating 1099 forms for subcontractors.
- Updating general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Creating financial statements.
- Compiling information for third-party audits.
- Accurately tracking and recording billable hours.
- Prepares annual business and individual tax filings.
- Safeguards client confidentiality by maintaining discretion and advising staff on confidentiality protocols.
- Documents client information and maintains organized files for historical reference.
- Enhances revenue by suggesting new services to clients, generating leads through existing services, and engaging in community and business organizations.
- Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local financial regulations by adhering to established accounting principles and staying informed on changes in financial standards.
- Communicates effectively with managers, clients, staff, and ownership by analyzing and reporting client status, summarizing information, and addressing critical issues.
- Maintains professional development by attending workshops, reviewing industry publications, and building professional networks.
Contributes positively to team dynamics by maintaining a constructive attitude and performing other assigned tasks as necessary. Fosters cooperative relationships with staff and clients through effective communication, responsiveness to requests, and collaborative problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or an associate's degree with a minimum of four years of experience in public accounting.
- Two to three years of experience in a public accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly QuickBooks.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with staff, clients, and external contacts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing workloads.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to ethical accounting practices.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of completing tasks accurately and on time.
