Postdoctoral Research Scientist
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join our team at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The successful candidate will work as a computational scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Kunal Rai, focusing on the discovery of cancer-driving epigenome networks. This position involves applying computational methods for the analysis of single-cell multiome and spatial transcriptomics and epigenomics datasets, integrating with complex high-dimensional omics datasets from tumor samples in different cancer types/malignancies.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will collaborate with a group of wet lab and computational scientists to derive novel biological insights and identify biomarkers and therapies. The Rai laboratory is situated in a highly dynamic and stimulating environment for learning, offering active graduate and postdoctoral training programs and an unmatched scientific environment.
The successful candidate will develop and apply computational tools to gain insights from bulk single-cell and spatial epigenomic and transcriptomic data sets. They will learn to devise hypotheses, design analytical plans, and execute the strategy to perform innovative science. They will also gain experience in grant writing and training junior scientists/students.
Eligible candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in any discipline of biology, mathematics, or computation science. Strong skills in statistics and programming, particularly in R/Python, are required, as well as an interest in the application of state-of-the-art computational/statistical methods to complex data. Experience with analysis of epigenomic data, single-cell, and spatial is highly desired.
MD Anderson offers full-time postdoc positions with a salary ranging from $64,000 to $76,000 depending on the number of years of postgraduate experience. Benefits include paid medical benefits, group dental, vision, life, AD&D, and disability coverage, as well as paid education, vacation, and sick leave.
