Respiratory Therapist

The Respiratory Therapist plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care in accordance with the department's specific requirements and consistent with the scope and standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty.
Responsibilities- Perform and document patient assessment, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure.
- Conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, respiratory therapy.
- Administer respiratory care therapies, including oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
- Assist with placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
- Monitor patient for therapeutic response and notify provider and intervene as appropriate in the event of an unintended response.
- Assist with transportation of ventilator-dependent patients and respond to emergent patient situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Neonate Resuscitation certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 60 months of employment start date.
- Associated degree from an accredited respiratory program.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist certification issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner certification issued by the Texas Medical Board.
- One year of experience in an acute care facility preferred; new graduates with licensing complete will be considered.
- Ability to work nights and rotation weekends.
