Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Materials and Processes Engineer to join our team at Blue Origin. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in materials engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the aerospace industry.

This role is part of the New Shepard program, which aims to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for tackling existing material problems for various spaceflight systems, sharing in the team's impact on all aspects of New Shepard. You will review production drawings for large complex assemblies, develop processes, select materials, help implement a New Shepard Parts, Materials and Processes Plan and define design requirements. We work closely with quality, design, structures, thermal, integration and manufacturing to optimize designs and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • B.S. degree or higher in welding engineering, materials engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years' experience – note, level of position will be commensurate with candidate experience, capabilities, and skillset (level 3, Senior, or Principal)
  • Ability to learn, grow and tackle new challenges in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle small and large projects with a diversity of internal and external customers.
