About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Manager to join our Controversy Practice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tax compliance services, with experience in tax examination, tax advocacy, or controversy. You will be responsible for providing tax advocacy and controversy services on civil matters, representing clients in IRS Examinations, Appeals, and other administrative hearings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide tax advocacy and controversy services on civil matters
  • Represent clients in IRS Examinations, Appeals, and other administrative hearings
  • Advocate for penalty abatement and late regulatory elections, including 9100 relief
  • Advocate on clients' behalf before IRS collections and all 50 state tax agencies
  • Research and consult on various tax matters, respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries when requested, make recommendations to the client for consideration
  • Invest in professional development through active participation in training sessions and networking events both internally and externally
  • Demonstrate excellent team skills, positive attitude, and high ethical standards
Qualifications
  • JD, CPA, or EA Required
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in a professional services firm providing tax compliance services or equivalent government agency. Previous experience in tax examination, tax advocacy, or controversy a plus
  • Demonstrated management, analytical, organization, interpersonal, project management, communication skills, and highly developed Microsoft Suite skills (Word, Excel) required
  • Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency
