Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child Protective Services Worker to join our Mobile Unit team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for conducting child safety assessments, providing support and resources to families, and working collaboratively with community partners to ensure the well-being of Oregon's children and families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Travel and Coverage: Travel across the state to provide support and coverage for Child Protective Services Workers in various Child Welfare offices.
  • Safety and Support: Protect children's safety and support families by engaging with them, resource parents, and caregivers, using a trauma-informed and antiracist approach.
  • A Balancing Act: Navigate the needs of the child and the family while balancing legal requirements.
  • Assessment and Interviews: Conduct assessment and fact-finding interviews related to child safety, risk of abuse, neglect, or harm, and address necessary care and needs levels of the children and families.
  • Decision-Making: Analyze collected information to determine appropriate child placement, considering each family's unique circumstances.
  • Communication: Create reports, case notes, testify in court, and communicate with diverse populations in office, community, or legal settings.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in human services or a field related to human service, or
  • A bachelor's degree unrelated to Human Services and either:
    • One year of Human Services related experience, or
    • Completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency, or
  • An associate degree and either:
    • Two years of Human Services related experience, or
    • One year of Human Services related experience and related training, coursework, or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency.
Essential Attributes
  • Child Protective Services experience, conducting and documenting assessments as well as thorough application of the Oregon Safety Model.
  • Experience collaborating with families through trauma competent engagement.
  • Proficient in navigating technology, inputting, and retrieving data, and using various computer systems or databases, including ORKIDS.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and experience managing tasks without constant supervision.
  • Experience successfully organizing, prioritizing caseloads, and adapting to evolving circumstances and time constraints.
