Job Summary

A research-focused position is available in the Department of Neuroscience & Regenerative Medicine at Augusta University. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge research projects focused on molecular, cellular, and electrophysiological aspects of mouse taste bud regeneration.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
  • Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and neurophysiological experiments, including the use of transgenic mouse models, in vivo nerve recording, mouse surgery, qRT-PCR, immunofluorescence, and confocal imaging.
  • Analyze results of experiments and procedures using manual or computer techniques and develop special computer programs to facilitate analysis.
  • Compose articles for publication in scientific journals and review articles prepared by others.
  • Advise principal investigators, other postdocs, students, and other research personnel on research techniques, procedures, and other technological aspects of research activities.
  • Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature, summarize and evaluate findings, and develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and two years of experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory, particularly clinical trial research; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or other natural, life, health care, or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned with a minimum of five years' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Detail-oriented with strong organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills.
