DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborates with families and individuals facing homelessness to help them set housing objectives and achieve independent living.
- Offers clients suitable housing options.
- Guides clients through the administrative processes related to housing, including obtaining necessary documentation and completing required applications.
- Builds and maintains relationships with landlords and property management entities to enhance the identification of available housing options.
- Ensures all necessary case management documentation is accurately completed.
- Documents case notes, tracks, and monitors client progress to provide support and ensure housing objectives are met.
- Engages with property owners and representatives to gather required documents for financial assistance requests.
- Inspects and assesses potential housing sites to confirm they are well-maintained and suitable for client occupancy.
- Travels as necessary.
- Performs additional related tasks as assigned by management.
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from an accredited institution, or one to two years of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience.
- Proficient in computer skills: Spreadsheet Software (Excel); Word Processing Software (Word); Electronic Mail Software (Outlook); and Keyboarding.
- Other skills required:
- 3+ years of experience in case management, particularly with Rapid Rehousing, Housing First, or similar federal housing initiatives preferred.
- Understanding of fundamental principles and methodologies for providing services to individuals and families facing housing instability, substance abuse, interpersonal trauma, and involvement with the criminal justice system.
- Adaptability - Adjusts to changes in the work environment; Manages competing demands; Modifies approach or method to best suit the situation; Capable of handling frequent changes, delays, or unexpected events.
- Dependability - Adheres to instructions, responds to management guidance; Takes ownership of actions; Fulfills commitments; Willing to work extended hours when necessary to achieve objectives; Completes tasks on schedule or informs the appropriate person with an alternative plan.
