Job Summary

Tates Rents, a leading employee-owned business in the Treasure Valley, is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our accounting department, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our company culture and structuring our business for future growth and success.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Own the full accounting cycle, including financial statement preparation and review, general ledger maintenance, and reconciliation of bank and credit card accounts.
  • Post and maintain all major accounts, including monthly depreciation and amortization.
  • Assist in overseeing payables and review and guide the accounts receivable process.
  • Perform payroll and benefits reconciliation, review, and processing.
  • Maintain software systems, including purchase orders, and recommend process improvements as needed.
  • Ensure adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes.
  • Collect, distribute, and maintain certificates of insurance and lien waivers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a relevant subject.
  • Preferred two years of experience in an accounting department or related business area.
  • Strong Excel skills, including SUMIFS, Pivot Tables, and Index match.
  • Experience with QuickBooks a plus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate related office equipment, such as computers, 10-key calculators, and copiers.
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and be able to speak English clearly and write legibly.
  • Ability to speak another language is a plus.
  • Must pass a company drug screen.
Working Conditions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
