Job Title: Senior Estimator

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team at Kiewit Power Delivery. As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in accurately estimating the cost of bid-build projects in the power delivery market.

Job Summary

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for developing complete and accurate bid-build estimates for the Region, training and mentoring others in the preparation of estimates, and reviewing estimates prepared by other estimators or partners as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop complete and accurate bid-build estimates for the Region
  • Train and mentor others in the preparation of estimates
  • Review estimates prepared by other estimators or partners as required
  • Read and interpret Request for Proposal (RFP) documents, construction drawings, and specifications to understand the scope of the project
  • Coordinate and facilitate project meetings
  • Collaborate with the Estimating Team and Regional Sponsors on means and methods, value-added concepts, and build a strategy
  • Develop Project schedule
  • Complete and/or compile all material takeoffs for the estimate
  • Ensure all Subcontracts and Permanent Material quotes are issued and coordinated to ensure the Scope of work is clear and pricing is accurate
  • Establish Labor wages and unit rates for tasks
  • Develop Staff and Equipment schedules as well as other indirect costs associated with the project
  • Ensure all costs are accurately entered into the estimating program (Ineight Estimate)
  • Identify Risks as well as Mitigation techniques
  • Develop and review comparisons with past projects
  • Prepare estimate review books and assist in providing Proposal information and documentation
Requirements
  • Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or construction-related technology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above
  • At least 7 years' experience in a related role
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction means/methods
  • Strong attention to detail; strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Developed organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
