OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE:

The Aviation Training Specialist is responsible for providing outstanding ground and simulator flight education in alignment with aviation standards and PlaneSmart Aviation training methodologies.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The following tasks are crucial for the effective and satisfactory execution of this role. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
  • Facilitate pilot ground and simulator instruction for clients engaged in core, specialized, or advanced training programs.
  • Create and organize educational materials that enhance training delivery tailored to meet client specifications in accordance with the relevant curriculum.
  • Assess and track trainee development and advise on qualification or further training needs.
  • Maintain precise training documentation for each client, supporting their success in achieving set objectives.
  • Identify client training challenges and seek guidance prior to implementation.
  • Uphold Instructor certifications in compliance with regulatory standards.
PROFESSIONAL LEVEL:

Intermediate

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Willingness to participate in DOT Drug & Alcohol testing program.
  • An unrestricted ATP certificate or an ICAO member state Airline Transport Pilot License.
  • If not holding an ATP, must fulfill the requirements of:
  • 14 CFR part 61.64 without a Supervised Operating Experience (SOE) limitation.
  • A minimum of one unrestricted PIC type rating.
  • Preferred: Experience in FAR Part 135, FAR Part 121, or military training.
  • Preferred: 2,500 hours of total flight experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Familiarity with aviation safety protocols and practices.
  • Understanding of standard aviation regulations.
  • Capability to manage classes and deliver effective instruction.
  • Basic facilitation skills.
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Willingness to be coachable and receptive to feedback for personal development.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met and/or encountered by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While executing the responsibilities of this role, the employee is regularly required to use hands to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and communicate verbally. The employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must possess a physical range of motion to perform the following tasks:
  • Reach, apply pressure, and operate rudder controls and/or anti-torque with both feet.
  • Access and manipulate various controls within the Simulator from the Instructor's position.
  • Enter and exit the Simulator via the designated ramp.
  • Move between the Instructor station, screen, and podium while teaching in the classroom.
  • Exit from a malfunctioning Simulator while the device is in a significantly pitched position.
Specific vision abilities required by this role include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this role, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical components. The employee may work in high, precarious locations and in outdoor weather conditions, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid environments, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, extreme temperatures, electrical hazards, radiation, and vibrations.

The noise level in the work environment is typically moderate.
